2013 AMA Pro Motocross: Final Results

2013 AMA 450 Outdoor Pro Motocross Championship

Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto is the 2013 AMA Outdoor 450 Pro Motocross Champion for the second time in his career, cementing his place as the undisputed stand-out rider in this year's championship as he blew away the competition at the end of the series by winning six races in a row.

Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey kept him honest, but Villopoto was too strong and the KTM Red Bull Factory Racing rider finished an excellent second overall in the series with a strong final 2-2 result at Lake Elsinore this weekend.

Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Andrew Short on the BTO Sports BBMX KTM finished a huge seventh in the 450 series, showing his fighting spirit many times throughout the season and it paying off for him in the end. Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Mike Alessi on the Motoconcepts Suzuki took a solid overall ninth in the series.

2013 AMA 250 Outdoor Pro Motocross Championship

Eli Tomac stormed to the 2013 AMA Outdoor 250 Pro Motocross Championship title, winning seven out of the last eight races in a late-season surge that really showed his potential as a future dominant force to be reckoned with.

Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ken Roczen on the KTM Red Bull Factory Racing machine started the season in omnipotent form after his West Coast 250SX title victory earlier in the spring, however the final part of the season saw him dip a little which was enough for Tomac to pounce on and seize the championship from the precocious German star. Roczen's fellow Raptor Titanium and KTM Red Bull team-mate Marvin Musquin took overall third in the series to round out a huge series and year in the USA for Raptor Titanium.

A super performance from Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Cooper Webb on the Star Valli Yamaha saw him take an overall third on the podium in his final event as a rookie before he tackles his second 250 season next year, which shows promising signs of future potential for the young rider.

2013 AMA Pro Motocross: Unadilla

Ryan Villopoto reasserted his dominance on the 2013 450 AMA MX Championship this weekend with an imperious 1-1 victory to take himself 44 points clear of main points and championship rival, Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey of KTM Red Bull USA Factory Racing. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider was too strong for the opposition this weekend, however with two rounds still to go Dungey can still regain control and win the title.

2013 Pro Motocross: Millville

Plenty of crashes kept the racing intense at Millville this weekend, shaking up the points standings' in both classes and tightening up the competition with only three rounds to go.

Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey of KTM Red Bull Factory Racing USA took a chunk out of Ryan Villopoto's points lead at the weekend, capitalizing on poor form from the the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider who had bad starts in both races and could only manage overall fifth, his weakest performance so far this year. Dungey took overall third after some epic battles with the Factory Hondas of Justin Barcia and Trey Canard and overall winner at Millville James Stewart who's cool and consistent riding earned him his first victory of the season.

In the 250 class it was a mixed weekend for Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ken Roczen who suffered a really bad crash in the first race and had to retire, before regrouping and taking second in race two to salvage some points, it wasn't enough to stop him relinquishing the red plate to championship rival Eli Tomac who showed blistering speed like last week at Washougal to go 1-1 and take the championship points lead with three rounds to go.

Raptor Titanium sponsored riders Marvin Musquin of Factory KTM Red Bull Racing USA and Jason Anderson of Rockstar Energy Suzuki took second and third on the podium respectively after some great dices on the track.

2013 AMA Pro Motocross: Washougal

Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey of KTM Red Bull Factory Racing USA bounced right back this weekend with a 1-2 result at Washougal to keep the pressure on Ryan Villopoto who took the overall win by virtue of victory in the second race and second behind Dungey in the first. The points gap remains the same and Dungey still has plenty to do in the coming rounds to get himself back into serious contention now but this is just the psychological boost he needs to keep his hopes alive.

Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Mike Alessi of the Motoconcepts Suzuki squad managed an excellent overall fifth place ahead of Andrew Short of BTO KTM, also on Raptor Titanium footpegs. Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Broc Tickle of RCH Suzuki took a great overall ninth to fill out the top ten for us.

The 250 class was ferociously competitive as ever, with the guys at the pointed end of the championship going at it hammer and tongs, but nobody could stop Geico Honda rider Eli tomac from storming away to victory in both races to take himself just one point behind Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ken Roczen of the Factory KTM Red Bull USA team who took a solid 2-2 result on the day and dealt with the pressure immensely. Roczen was more concerned with challenges from his Factory KTM team-mate Marvin Musquin who grabbed overall third after showing his speed more and more this year and with him being just 57 points behind Tomac he could still have a say in this title sprint.

2013 AMA Pro Motocross: Redbud

Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey took a huge blow to his title hopes at the weekend as his main rival Ryan Villopoto took a commanding 1-1 result ahead of a charging James Stewart, and the KTM Red Bull Factory Racing rider and defending champion stalled the bike and scored a 34th place in moto 1 but redeemed his weekend with a third in moto 2.

Villopoto extends his points lead to 42 points, but Dungey retains second place as third-placed Justin Barcia had a shaky weekend for him with overall fifth so the pressure is still on the 2011 champion with plenty of racing left to go.

Roczen's team-mate and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Marvin Musquin had some thrilling dices with rookie sensation Jeremy Martin, and the double world champion was edged out on the day by the stubborn new-comer which left Musquin with fourth overall.

2013 AMA Pro Motocross: Budd's Creek

The competition really showed how tight the field was as the 2013 AMA Motocross Championship returned after the weekend off to the legendary track of Budd's Creek, a past stronghold for man-of-the-moment Ryan Villopoto who has shown his world-beating talent here.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider was pipped to the overall 450 win by Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey of KTM Red Bull USA Factory Racing who claimed the win in race two to get an unbeatable 2-1 result after Villopoto stormed to victory in race one so the points gap remains the same but it is an important psychological edge for Dungey in showing he is still in the title hunt.

In the 250 class the Raptor Titanium sponsored duo of Ken Roczen and Marvin Musquin from the KTM Red Bull USa Factory Racing outfit were bested by Eli Tomac and the 2012 Champion Blake Baggett in some ferociously close racing with Baggett taking the overall 2-1 result. Tomac impressed in the second race though as he came from nowhere to pass everyone and take the chequered flag for the race win and overall result. The Raptor Titanium sponsored KTM Red Bull riders took consistent overall third and fourth results with a 2nd for Musquin in race one ahead of Roczen in third.

2013 AMA Pro Motocross: High Point

More thrilling racing entertained the crowds at High Point, Pennsylvania on Saturday as the 2013 Outdoor AMA MX Series continued in spectacular style.

Ryan Villopoto reasserted his dominance of the 450 class with a charging 1-1 result, after last week's overall third (disappointing for him) he was clearly keen to show who's top of the pile. Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey of KTM Red Bull USA took another excellent 2-2 result to stay consistent behind Villopoto and stay within striking distance of the championship points lead.

In the 250 class it was all about our sponsored KTM Red Bull USA riders Marvin Musquin and Ken Roczen as the two team-mates traded race wins and second place finishes to leave in no doubt who the men to beat in this class are.

2013 AMA Pro Motocross: Muddy Creek, Tennessee

The 2013 AMA Pro Motocross Championship is really hotting up now as dramatic racing entertained the thousands in attendance at Muddy Creek on Saturday.

It was most notable as it heralded the end of Ryan Villopoto's unbeaten streak as Raptor Titanium sponsored Factory KTM SX-F 450 rider Ryan Dungey took the overall win with a 4-1 result ahead of the Factory Honda of Justin Barcia.

Raptor Titanium sponsored riders also had huge success in the 250 class as Marvin Musquin on the Factory SX-F 250 took a 2-2 result in incredibly close racing from the top men, with his team-mate Ken Roczen striking first and taking the first moto win but a few mistakes cost him the overall and he went 1-4 to go overall third behind Eli Tomac on the Geico Honda machine.

250 Class

It was another excellent performance from our sponsored KTM Red Bull USA rider Ken Roczen at Thunder Valley, Colorado this weekend, taking another strong 1-3 result to go overall second behind Geico Honda rider Eli Tomac who took an unbeatable 2-1 result to clinch victory. Tomac's team-mate Zach Osborne was overall third with an excellent 6-2 result. Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Marvin Musquin showed he is being very consistent with another straight 4-4 result for him.

The reigning champ Blake Baggett ground out a respectable overall fifth as he clawed it back from an overall ninth place in the first race.

Raptor Titanium sponsored Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki riders Jason Anderson and Blake Wharton had a disappointing day with Anderson down in overall eigth place and Wharton down in eleventh.

Nobody could beat man-of-the-moment Ryan Villopoto though as he cruised to another perfect 1-1 result to go unbeaten so far in the outdoors this year.

Raptor Titanium sponsored Factory KTM Red Bull USA rider Ryan Dungey took another 2-2 result, but he'll have to get his thinking cap on if he wants to take it to the Kawasaki rider this year.

Marvin Musquin and fellow Raptor Titanium sponsored rider continued in his form from last year and kept it consistent taking a 4-4 result.

The 2013 450SX Champion looked unbeatable at Hangtown this weekend, with main rivals James Stewart on the Yoshimura Suzuki and Raptor Titanium sponsored rider Ryan Dungey of KTM Red Bull USA having no answers against such a strong performance from the Kawasaki rider.

Our sponsored rider Ryan Sipes on the Rockstar Energy Suzuki took a strong overall sixth to round out a good weekend for him, just ahead of BTO Sports KTM rider Andrew Short and Motoconcepts' Mike Alessi both who were also on Raptor Titanium footpegs.

2013 Supercross: Salt Lake City

History was made at Salt Lake City as Ryan Villopoto of the Monster Energy Factory Kawasaki Team took his third straight SX title to put his name among the true greats of the sport. Overcoming fevered opposition from Raptor Titanium sponsored riders Davi Millsaps of Rockstar Energy Suzuki and Ryan Dungey of the KTM Red Bull USA team, Villopoto remained resolute and took the chequered flag.

It was truly a night to forget for our sponsored rider Ken Roczen as he failed to ignite all evening, culminating in failure to qualify for the 250SX Main Event. This gave main rival for the championship Eli Tomac on the Geico Honda the chance he's been desperately needing this season to put himself on equal terms with the German. It didn't quite work out for Tomac though either as a lapse at the midpoint in the Main Event saw him slip back numerous places, eventually salvaging sixth place to haul himself to just five points behind Roczen going to Vegas next weekend.

Now there is just a five point margin between the top two spots in both East and West Coast 250SX Championships, making it a mouth-watering prospect for the fans ahead of the series finale next weekend.
